We were called out by a customer in Whitstable who urgently needed an emergency locksmith, as she could no longer lock her front door due to a failed multipoint locking system.
Expressing concern over her home’s security, the customer described her inability to secure the door. Through a brief phone conversation, we swiftly diagnosed the issue and provided a fixed price for the lock repair, ensuring transparency in costs upfront. Satisfied with the quote, the customer booked our services. We were able to accommodate her at a convenient time, completing the lock repair efficiently and economically in a single visit.
Failed or jammed uPVC locking mechanisms
As is common with uPVC and composite doors, the locking mechanisms can fail or become jammed. This is usually caused by continuing to operate the locking system when there is a door alignment issue that is left unresolved.
We quickly replaced the multipoint locking gearbox and then realigned the door and lock strikers to prevent any reoccurrence or future lock problems, along with offering our lovely customer some maintenance advice and advising her what to look out for.
Most importantly, if it’s ever difficult to lift the handle to engage the locking system or it’s difficult to operate the lock with the key, then it should not be forced. Forcing it can put stress on the system and cause it to fail. We are always happy to attend to carry out adjustments, which is always cheaper than having to replace broken parts.
In addition to the lock repair, the customer also booked us to return and fit a fresh new set of door handle in her preferred colour, to give the door a little uplift. The customer was really happy with the work carried out and the service she received and left us a glowing review on both Google and Checkatrade.
